Postgraduate Programmes eligible for In-Country/ In-Region Scholarships in Eastern Africa, 2019/ 2020

The objective of this scholarship programme is to promote the development of university teaching staff in universities and build capacity for staff in the public sector through postgraduate training in selected postgraduate study programmes at the institutions listed below.

This programme strongly encourages mobility of East Africans within the East Africa region. We therefore strongly recommend applicants to apply to institutions outside their home countries.

Applicants should apply to the institution of their choice for both the admission and the DAAD scholarship, using the contacts and the procedure prescribed at the institution’s website. The institutions have set their own deadlines that need to be followed. All applicants will be notified about the outcome of their application. Only shortlisted candidates will get access to the DAAD Online Portal to finalize the scholarship application.

  • and the possibility of a study visit of up to 6 months to Germany within the period of the scholarship.

Strathmore University Master and PhD Scholarships

Strathmore is pleased to announce the In-Country/In-Region 2019 DAAD scholarships for PhD and Master programs at Strathmore University. We invite highly qualified candidates to apply for these scholarships. Potential candidates are invited to read the application information below and submit their applications no later than Wednesday 20th February 2019 at 5.00pm. Please note that applications received after this date will not be accepted. Female candidates and candidates from outside Kenya are strongly encouraged to apply.

Kenyatta University Master and PhD Scholarships

Kenyatta University is pleased to announce M.Sc and PhD scholarships available through the German Academic Exchange Services (DAAD) funding support. DAAD promotes international academic exchange as well as educational cooperation with developing countries through various funding and scholarship programmes. These scholarships will benefit scholars from Kenya and the Sub-Saharan African region to pursue studies in selected M.Sc and PhD Programmes as highlighted below. The scholarships are tenable for 2019/20 academic period that will commence in September 2019; therefore, only candidates available to start the training during this period should apply. All applications for scholarships must be received by end of day on 8th February 2019.

Jomo Kenyatta University of Agriculture and Technology PhD Scholarships

JKUAT and DAAD wish to announce PhD Scholarship Opportunities in PhD Mechanical Engineering and PhD Information Technology for 2019/2020in the JKUAT Main Campus. To be eligible for consideration by JKUAT for the DAAD scholarships, applicants must first be admissible to the respective JKUAT PhDs, which are offered in the Main Campus. Applicants interested in the DAAD scholarships must therefore first apply for JKUAT admission to the respective JKUAT PhD. The documents should be submitted to JKUAT as soft copies before or on Friday, 15thFebruary 2019

Mount Kenya University Master Scholarships

Mount Kenya University in conjunction with the German Academic Exchange Services (DAAD) is pleased to announce the 2019/2020 DAAD scholarships for students who are interested in the following masters programs offered at Mount Kenya University. Applications for the above programs shall be made on the official MKU Application Form not later than Friday 8th  February 2019 at 5:00 pm EAT


Moi University PhD Scholarships

Moi University, a public University located in Eldoret, Kenya, and offering world class training, is pleased to announce Five (5) PhD scholarships under Duetsche Akademischer Austausch Dienst (DAAD) funding. DAAD promotes international academic exchange as well as educational cooperation with developing countries through various funding and scholarship programmes. The scholarships are tenable for applicants from Kenya and the Eastern Africa region to study on full time basis in 2019/2020 academic year, which will commence from September 2019. All applications must be received by Friday 8th February 2019, 5.00pm.
