Strengthening the academic relationships between the German and African Universities has been of great benefit to the institutions, students and the stakeholders involved.
Capacity Building, Exchange programmes, Summer semester abroad, support for young startups among others have been some of the great milestones achieved from these collaborations. Our team was delighted to meet the delegation team on 8 July 2019 from the Technical University of Kenya hosted by the University of Applied Sciences Augsburg during a one week visit in Augsburg. The visit is part of the DAAD-funded project of enhancing cooperation and capacity building to intensify the relationship with the Kenyan University.
University of Applied Sciences in Augsburg has been collaborating with the Technical University of Kenya through the DAAD-funded project "cooperation and capacity building in built environment and digital media". The delegation team visited the university from 8 until 12 of July 2019 where they had the chance to get the exposure about the model of the university of applied sciences in Germany. During the compact program, the delegation learnt about the need to apply practical relevance in teaching, studying and research. The team also had a chance to visit several companies in Augsburg. Among the delegation members were Prof. Paul Shiundu Mwanza (Deputy Vice Chancellor, Academics, Research and Students), Professors and Lecturers from the Design, Architecture, Computing and Information Technologies and Engineering Faculties.
The University of Applied Sciences invited our Co-Founder, Caroline Mwangi, an alumnus of the university to join the delegation. The focus of the engagement was to talk about the intercultural aspects and how students and young scientists are being guided by the university and other organisations to fit into the academic society in Germany. Our organisation also spoke about how Africans in the Diaspora have been engaged towards mentoring young students and professionals and in highlighting the existing collaborations between Germany and Kenya.
